seriously romantic: trusting tanner by lexi lawton

when i was offered the chance to review trusting tanner, it sounded familiar, but i assumed i was just confused. but it turns out i read an earlier version of this novel, and i didn't love it then. i'm so happy to report that i feel much differently about it this time. the biggest problems i had with the original version have been fixed.

the characters no longer behave like willful morons and seem like real people with real baggage and insecurities. rebecca is still cartoonishly evil, but it's okay. because her relationship with all the other characters has changed in a way that makes sense to the plot. i think the original idea of having a shy girl be in love with her roommate's ex-boyfriend was probably the seed for the whole story, but the characters evolved out of it, and it wasn't working. but it really does now.

tanner and jules still don't have an easy time of it. rebecca is a proper villain. but once they figure out how to really trust each other and their feelings it really does work out. and in a way, while it's frustrating that jules doesn't believe tanner when things do go wrong, the fact that she decides that she loves him more in her life than out of it before she gets incontrovertible proof, kind of makes everything mean more. it's like they forge bonds that will not break. it's very romantic.

this time around i am interested in seeing where this series goes. not being so frustrated by the characters actions really let me enjoy their story much, much more.

simply catching up on all things general hospital
