seriously romantic: delicious satisfaction by sabrina sol

book three in the delicious desires series, delicious satisfaction, gives us alexa montoya, an up-and-coming l.a. chef and dante perez, her brother's best friend and the one guy who got away.

for years alexa has been planning the restaurant of her dreams. when she realizes her jerk of an ex-boyfriend has basically stolen all her ideas and opened the very restaurant she'd always intended to open, she loses it. in a pretty spectacular manner, since impulse control is something that alexa struggles with. the cops get called on her, she turns to dante to get her out of her mess, since he not only is her brother's best friend, but also his attorney.

alexa is prepared to do the avoidance thing she does so well when it comes to hanging around dante, but he's had it. he doesn't want to pretend that he didn't feel something all those years ago. he wants to pursue the chemistry and pull he feels from alexa. since the magical time they spent together in puerto rico, he's been waiting for her to look at him again, and he's watched her date loser after loser. and he's done waiting. she called him and it's past time to see where they can go.

of course, both alexa and dante have some abandonment issues they need to sort through. alexa has dealt with them by only entering relationships that will fit her preconceived biases, and dante has always held his true self back from everyone. even alexa's brother has no idea that dante is a product of the foster care system. dante has made a good life for himself and continues to pay it forward, and needs to not be ashamed of where he came from. and alexa needs to stop thinking that she's less than, maybe she's reckless and impulsive, but she's also a kickass chef and a good businesswoman. realizing these things about themselves, lets them come together finally. all they needed to do was let go of some of their preconceptions. it's a hard thing to do, but oh so worth it in the end.

also, just a shout out to diversity here. you don't always see an all latino main cast of characters in romance novels. and often there are some serious stereotypes that come into play. but as a puerto rican, i feel like the author got all the family dynamics right. and the description of the food was spot on. it made me hungry for some of my mom's own cooking. and made me think of my own abuelas.

**delicious satisfaction will publish on february 27, 2017. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/entangled publishing (brazen) in exchange for my honest review.

simply catching up on all things general hospital

hmmm, it's been months since i've blogged about gh . partly this is due to the fact that i fell behind while i was traveling. partly because all the outrage lapsed into disinterest when i realized i couldn't bring myself to care anymore and everything that was happening was just so trite and boring. some days i still feel that way. and there are still whole storylines that i either hate or just fast forward through. but there are some good things too. in no particular order, here are my thoughts on the goings-on in port charles: 1. soras [and why re-casting roles works on soaps even if you do miss the original actors]: the new, older versions of sonny's kids are turning out to be quite enjoyable. [although hilariously, cameron whom i believe is older than molly is now younger. and because cameron is so cute, i'm kind of hoping they won't fix that. we also haven't seen spencer in ages, so he may be approaching 50.] in any case, at this point we've only s

genre debate: urban fantasy versus epic fantasy: team epic gets their say

Team Epic: Why I Love Epic Fantasy! Since it's my blog, I'll go first: Epic fantasies take you on quests that take you beyond the limits of what is real. The rules can be different, they are different, and everything just matters more. It's not just one life at stake, it's lives, it's a whole world, a whole way of being. Epic fantasies force you to use your imagination and take you on an adventure to places you never thought possible, but as different as everything feels, there are still things that are always real, no matter how you write it. Keep reading to see what a handful of Entangled TEEN authors think about epic fantasies: Erica Cameron - Island of Exiles (The Ryogan Chronicles, #1): Why do I love epic fantasy? It's a blank slate. We can erase all of our preconceived notions of society and law and even science, throwing all of that over the side of a cliff. Epic fantasy lets us push humanity well past the breaking point with ever
